About Mike Tamburo
Mike Tamburo is a world-renowned musician, composer, sound artist, and educator known for his transformational live concerts performed on a personally curated collection of gongs, bells, hammered dulcimer, and other metal instruments.
A lifelong multi-instrumentalist, Tamburo has devoted decades to exploring metal percussion, string instruments (including hammered dulcimer, guitar, zither, and shahi baaja), and electronic instrumentation. Since 1994, he has shared more than 2,500 concerts and workshops worldwide and released over 70 albums — both solo and in collaboration with projects such as Crown of Eternity, Meisha, Arco Flute Foundation, Psychic Frost, and Brother Ong.
His work spans gong music, ecstatic string music, folk, drone, ambient, mantra, and experimental sound. In addition to performing, he is a gong teacher, interdisciplinary sound artist, instrument builder, video artist, sound therapist, writer, and meditation teacher.
